OBO Finland focusses on geothermal energy

Since 2019 the headquarter of OBO Finland can be found near the Finnish capital Helsinki. It consists of a sales company and a logistic site. When the Finnish colleagues moved to their new site, they soon decided that they wanted to lay a strong focus on the use of renewable energies. At the same time, a reliable solution for the heating had to be found. That was especially important, because Finland has up to 4 or 6 cold months.

In the end, the choice fell in favor of geothermal energy that can be used for the heating as well as for the cooling of the site. Geothermal energy is a very reliable and cost-efficient source for renewable energy and is produced deep down in the Earth’s core. OBO Finland equipped its site with the required material to profit from the Earth’s energy. This decision leads to the following CO2 savings:

If OBO Finland would continue to use conventional energy sources for heating and cooling, they would consume 89.053 kg CO2 per year. Due to the changeover to geothermal energy for heating and cooling the CO2 consumption has been reduced to 35.561 kg per year. This is equivalent to  CO2 reduction of 60% each year.
